If the Apocalypse comes, beep me

Buffy, when I saw you stop the world from, you know, ending, I just assumed that was a big week for you. Turns out I suddenly find myself needing to know the plural of apocalypse!

Not everyone has the chance to witness, and survive, an apocalypse. But living over the Hellmouth is a wonderland your and the Scooby Gang has saved the world more than once. If you look closer, Sunnydale faces an upcoming apocalypse about twice a year.

If the Apocalypse comes, beep me!
    Buffy, Never Kill Boy On First Date.

First there was the Harvest. Buffy had only just arrives in Sunnydale and she had to stop the Master's minors from killing most of the young population of the town and setting himself free? She prevents the Harvest and the Master is still trapped, for now!

Buffy: So Giles! Got anything that can make this day any worse?
Giles: How about the end of the world?
Buffy: Knew I could count on you!
    - The Harvest.

Giles translates an ancient prophecy forseeing Buffy's death. She freaks out, but finally faces her destiny. She is killed by the master who finds the power to escape from his prison. Luckily Xander can revives her using CPR and Buffy confronts him once again. She sends him flying through a skylight, onto a broken desk, turning him to dust.

Yes, YES! Shake, earth! This is a sign! We are in the final days! My time has come! Glory! GLORY!

    - The Master, Prophecy Girl.

The next almost apocalypse is brought to us by Spike and Dru, as a birthday present for Buffy in 'Surprise'. They plan to resuscitate a demon name the Judge, who will burn out all humanity on earth. Buffy manages to kill him by blowing him up.

In 'Becoming' Angelus finds the sarcophagus of the apocalyptic demon Acathla. His awakening will open a vortex to Hell and suck the world in. Angelus succeeds to waken him and Buffy has no other choice but to kill the man she loves.

Spike: Let me guess. Someone pulls out the sword...
Angelus: Someone worthy...
Spike: The demon wakes up, and whackiness ensues.
Buffy: What do you want?
Spike: I told you, I want to stop Angel. I want to save the world.

The fifth apocalypse is a background story and we don't follow the whole thing very well. A group of demons, the Sisterhood of Jhe, plan to reopen the Hellmouth under the library.

After Faith switches sides, Buffy must face the 'Hi-I'm-the-Mayor-now-a-giant-snake' who plans to crash Graduation Day and feed feed on the class of 1999. Buffy saves the senior class by blowing up the High School, with the Mayor in it.

Buffy freaks out once more when an earthquake announces yet another apocalypse. She must return to the high school in ruins to prevent it. A group of demons is preparing to sacrifice itself to reopen the Hellmouth, but Buffy, with the help of Willow, Xander, Spike and Riley, manage to stop them just in time.

Giles: It's the end of the world.
Buffy, Willow, Xander: Again!?!
Giles: It's ah, the earthquake, that symbol, yes.
Buffy: I told you. I said end of the world and you're like 'poo-poo, southern California, poo-poo!'
Giles: I'm so very sorry. My contrition completely dwarfs the impending apocalypse.
    - Doomed.

When Adam prepare a human/demon war to create a new, mixed, stronger race, Buffy has to fight not only him, but the Initiative's disbelief. Finally, by combing her powers with her friends, she manages to kill Adam, but ripping his powercenter out of his chest.

Season five sees Buffy having to fight her strongest enemy so far, Glory, who is none other than a goddess. She hits Sunnydale searching for the Key, that Buffy just happens to be protecting. Glory is super strong and beats Buffy up more than once, but when the final battle comes up, Buffy kills herself in order to save her little sister and the world.

When Warren kills Tara, Willow looses it and goes mad on magic. She drains her powers from the black arts and sets out from revenge, attacking anything that gets in her way. Giles, boosted up on magical powers, tries to stop her, but ends up close to death. Willow kills Warren and then decides to end the world to relieve herself and the rest of the world from all the pain. Xander manages to find her and stop her by claiming his love for her. She finally breaks down into tears in his arms.

The final Apocalypse of the show, Buffy must first the First, supreme evil. TO do so she enlists Willow's help to activate the potential Slayers so they can fight with Faith and her. During this final battle, Anya and Spike are killed and the town is destroyed. Buffy, Dawn, Willow, Xander & Giles leave unharmed.

Oh God, is the world ending. I have to research a paper on Bosnia for tomorrow, but if the world is ending, I'm not going to bother.
